A BELOVED coffee chain is expanding rapidly this year, with plans to open at least 160 new locations.
Some consumers are now arguing that it’ll give Starbucks a run for its money in the coming years.

By 2029, Dutch Bros Coffee expects to open at least 2,029 new spots.
At least 160 will be completed by 2025, according to what a spokesperson confirmed to The US Sun.
Customers in some states will have access for the first time ever, including Georgia, Ohio, Indiana, Louisiana, and South Carolina.
More than 30 have already arrived as of September.
Several in Southern California appeared recently in areas such as Apple Valley, Baldwin Park, Barstow, Covina, Fountain Valley, La Habra, Palmdale, and Victorville.
Dutch Bros locations have also opened in 10 other states so far, including Alabama, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Kansas, Missouri, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, and Washington.
HIGH PRAISE
Some coffee fans are ecstatic over the openings, calling Dutch Bros “better than Starbucks” in a thread on Facebook, while others said they “can’t wait.”
“Dutch bros! Soooo much better than Starbucks ever thought of being,” an avid fan wrote.
“Trying out Dutch Bros to see which is better…I tried 7 Brew & I’m hooked — way better than Starbucks in my opinion…what are your thoughts?!?” another asked.
A third said Dutch Bros is “really the only place I’ll ever go.”
“Dutch Bros for sure!!” echoed someone else.
Dutch Bros was founded back in 1992 by brothers Dane and Travis Boersma (both of Dutch heritage) in Grant Pass, Oregon.
The idea came about as their family’s dairy farm, which had been passed down for three generations, was struggling due to environmental regulation changes.
So, the pair started a new business venture together with Dutch Bros, and grew to its current store count of 1,043 as of June.

At least 30 new Dutch Bros Coffee stores have already opened in 11 states this year, with 160 to break ground by the end of December.

CASHING OUT
It reported a net income of $35.3 million for 2024, a significant $1.7 million (1,952%) increase from 2023.
Sales continued to improve this year, according to CEO Christine Barone.
“We are pleased to deliver quarter-to-date Q1 same shop sales above our expectations, supported by positive traffic and strong business momentum,” Barone noted in a press release.
“This positive trend is a testament to the strength of our brand and the dedication of our team.”
The CEO also confirmed that 2025 marked the year that Dutch Bros opened its 1,000th location.
“With a strong roadmap ahead, we are focused on our bold goal of teaching 2,029 shops in 2029,” she continued.
“Led by field operations teams deeply rooted in our culture and supported by a leadership team with complimentary skills and firsthand knowledge of scale, we are well positioned to deliver sustainable, long-term value while staying true to our mission of making a massive difference, one cup at a time.”
Coffee is also set to get significantly more expensive for Americans as the result of the Trump administration’s tariff policies.
The CEO of Starbucks is also making three “aggressive” changes to all 17,230 locations starting in 2026.
