He was carted off the field and immediately rushed to Lutheran Medical Center.

The Guardians have now released an update on their social media channels.

“Imaging and clinical examination have confirmed that David Fry sustained multiple, minimally displaced, left-sided facial and nasal fractures,” the statement reads.

“While the injury will require close monitoring, including serial assessments. David is expected to full recover over the next 6-8 weeks without the need for surgery.

“David was recently discharged from the Cleveland Clinic and is resting comfortably.”

This news comes as a significant relief for the Guardians as they sit at the top of the American League Central division.

They held on for a 5-1 win against the Tigers after Fry was forced from the field.

The Guardians have a .544 winning percentage for the 2025 season, with one more win than the Tigers.

“The Cleveland Guardians would like to express gratitude to several groups who were intimately involved in the emergent care and treatment of David during last night’s game,” the statement continued.

“Physician’s Ambulance, caregivers at Lutheran Hospital and Cleveland Clinic emergency departments, and the nurses and physicians at CF working in the ENT and plastic surgery departments.”

“Thank you all for your professionalism, expertise, and compassion.”

Fry is unlikely to return before the end of the MLB season.

His side are in line to reach the postseason as they stand in line for a Wild Card berth.

The World Series is set to conclude on November 1.

This gives Fry just five-and-a-half weeks to recover from his injuries.

Fry will instead have a full pre-season to prepare for the 2026 campaign.
