A Thai security guard physically assaulted two young boys at a condominium in the Pak Kret district of Nonthaburi province near Bangkok after the boys rummaged through a rubbish area in the hope of finding 12 million baht, inspired by a recent news story.
The discovery of 12 million baht in cash inside a grey plastic box at a condominium in Nonthaburi province made headlines on June 5. A female resident came across the box at the waste disposal area on the fourth floor of her condominium. Intending to reuse the box, she opened it and found the money.
The cash was accompanied by a document referencing the Office of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) and a lawyer named Thaweewat Sengkaew.
The woman who discovered the money did not take it and instead called the police to help locate the rightful owner. Thaweewat is currently in the process of proving ownership, while the investigation into the origin of the funds continues.
Hoping to find a large sum of money, two 11 year old boys, Khaitoon and Pat, searched several waste disposal areas in their condo building in the Pak Kret district. However, they ended up getting physically assaulted by the condominium’s security guard.

The boys’ parents filed a complaint at Pak Kret Police Station yesterday, June 11. The children told police that they were searching for the money when Khaitoon accidentally dropped his shoes from the building.
The security guard noticed the shoes and went to investigate. Upon discovering the children and the messy disposal area, he scolded and then punished them. The guard allegedly slapped Khaitoon in the face and repeatedly struck Pat on the head with a metal pan.
The boys screamed, prompting Pat’s parents to check on them. The parents said the guard denied assaulting the children and refused to engage in conversation. This angered Pat’s father, who then punched the guard in the face.

The parents admitted that their sons were mischievous but said the guard’s response was excessive. They stated they were willing to apologise if their children caused any disturbance to the condominium residents.
Although the security guard later apologised, the parents confirmed they still intended to pursue legal action.
The former head of the condominium’s management committee, 68 year old Suwat Sooksarun, told Channel 7 that the boys had previously disturbed the community. He described the guard as a good person and speculated that he may have used force because the children ignored his warnings.
Suwat also stated that the security guard plans to file a counter-complaint against Pat’s father for assaulting him.
