A female millionaire disappeared from her home in Ratchaburi province yesterday, September 28, before her body was found floating in a canal.
Officers from Photharam Police Station were alerted to the discovery of a body in the Mae Khlong Canal at around 11.30am. The woman was dressed in a yellow shirt and white and green striped shorts. She bore no visible wounds or bruises and was believed to have died at least seven hours earlier.
Her clothing and appearance matched those of a missing person reported to police that same day. Officers contacted the family to confirm the identity. Upon seeing the body, her relatives confirmed she was 64 year old Thunyaporn.
Thunyaporn was the owner of a large fresh market in the area and was said to have assets worth more than 100 million baht. She was unmarried and lived with her siblings and grandchildren.
Relatives told police that Thunyaporn had long suffered from insomnia and had recently undergone a mental health assessment at a hospital. Although she was receiving treatment and prescribed medication, she continued to complain of symptoms and frequently expressed suicidal thoughts.

One family member told police she had heard a noise at the front door of their home at around 4am but did not investigate. Later that morning, she discovered that Thunyaporn was missing and posted a notice on social media before reporting her disappearance to the police.
Police suspect suicide due to Thunyaporn’s ongoing mental health struggles. However, her body was sent for autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

In a separate tragic case in Phatthalung on September 24, a 16 year old girl fatally shot herself with her father’s gun following concerns about disappointing her parents.
Her boyfriend told police she had resisted moving to a new school as suggested by her parents and worried about letting them down. She was also anxious that her parents might misunderstand her relationship with him, suspecting the pair of engaging in inappropriate behaviour.
