According to their website, the Orangevale, California store and two stores in Sacramento, California, have shut down.

The store on Watt Ave. in Sacramento’s Country Club Plaza, is permanently closed, per Google.

Jeff Helm, the broker/owner of the management company for Country Club Plaza, told the Sacramento Business Journal the location had financial difficulties.

“I think they’ve been struggling to get product from China, so supplies were very limited,” Helm said. “They shared with us that they had some financial trouble.”

Helm told the outlet he’s already had two potential tenants check out the now vacant storefront.

‘THINGS IN THE WORKS’

The Sacramento store on Natomas Blvd. just recently closed on September 27, teasing a new chapter.

“We are officially closed at this location, but we have exciting things in the works!” the store said in a Facebook post. “We hope you can follow along to join us soon!”

The Orangevale store’s Instagram page also posted a goodbye message to shoppers, adding there was something new in the works after the store closed on September 24.

The people behind That’s Cheap! started the store to provide customers with bargains “all the time,” according to their website.

“We believe that shoppers always like a bargain, and that is what shopping online was originally, bargain shopping. However, as online shopping has morphed from bargain shopping to convenience shopping, the great deals are fewer and much further between,” the website said.

Merchandise at That’s Cheap! sells for about 50% of their retail value.

As the store is a liquidation outlet, inventory changes frequently. Shoppers could sometimes find furniture, home décor, appliances and toys.

Three of the retailer’s stores remain open for business, with one in Woodland, California and two others in Sacramento.

The Richards Blvd. location in Sacramento remains open with fresh merchandise.

RETAIL STRUGGLES

The closures follow other retailers like Dirt Cheap shuttering locations.

Dirt Cheap filed for bankruptcy in October 2024 and planned to close all its stores by the end of the year, The U.S. Sun previously reported.

Similarly, Rite Aid, first filed for bankruptcy in October 2023. At the time, the drug store chain had over 2,300 locations, per Statista.

Now, the chain has 54 stores in the U.S.
