Hill was tackled after a catch and came down awkwardly, causing his leg to twist under him.
ESPN cameras only showed one replay of the tackle as the injury was so severe.
Hill was put in an air cast and immediately taken to the hospital to get his injury taken care of.
He went into surgery on Tuesday, but sent a message to fans before going for the procedure.
“Alright, guys. Tyreek Hill here, the cheetah,” Hill said in a video on X.
“About to go in for this surgery. Keep your boy in your prayers. You guys have been awesome, man.
“Fins Nation, just the whole entire NFL has been amazing, sending me lots of love, lots of prayers.
I’m absolutely honored, man, granted the situation.
“But I love you guys so much. Hope to see you soon.”
Hill has appeared in multiple pictures, and seems to be in high spirits.
Former teammate Terron Armstead shared a message for fans after speaking with Hill on the phone.
“I just got a FaceTime call from my brother @cheetah,” he wrote on X.
“First thing he said ‘man I’m just happy we got that win!!’
“He’s in good spirits and said he was laughing through the pain, to avoid passing out!! Crazy!
“Praying for best news possible and speedy recovery!”

The Dolphins now need to adapt to life without Hill, but head coach Mike McDaniel isn’t too worried.
“I thought that, in years past, when he’d be out for a day or two or something would come up, we didn’t have the same competitive spirit,” McDaniel said.
“I thought this offseason, we were able to develop that practicing joints and doing all that. So that’s productive.
“It should be helpful for the guys so they’re not going in uncharted territory.”
