A Thai father attacked his 15 year old daughter with a saw at a house in Samut Prakan province near Bangkok today, October 1, after she refused to help him with his work.
Officers from Bang Kaew Police Station rushed to a house in the Bang Pli district of Samut Prakan this afternoon following reports of child abuse. Rescuers from the Ruam Katanyu Foundation also arrived at the scene to provide first aid to the 15 year old victim.
Channel 7 reported that the girl nearly lost her right hand and sustained a deep wound to her body from the saw attack. She received emergency treatment before being taken to a nearby hospital.
The attacker, identified as the girl’s father, Teerasak, was found hiding in nearby grassland. Police arrested him and took him to the station for questioning.
According to Teerasak, he asked his daughter to fetch a bag for him, but she ignored his request and continued playing games on her mobile phone. He claimed he confronted her, and after she spoke to him disrespectfully, a heated argument broke out.

Teerasak alleged that his daughter first picked up the saw and tried to attack him, but dropped it, after which he seized the weapon and assaulted her.
The girl gave a similar account to her father’s but added that he had already used violence against her on three previous occasions.
She also told police that she had previously stayed at a children’s welfare shelter in Pattani province for eight years before escaping and travelling to Samut Prakan by train.

A witness told officers that the pair frequently argued and fought, with police often called to intervene. However, the witness noted this was the first time a weapon was used.
Other locals revealed that Teerasak had previously been homeless, which led them to help arrange for his daughter to stay in the shelter in hopes of improving her living conditions.
The report did not specify what legal punishment Teerasak will face.
