Golden Bachelor Mel Owens eliminates four ladies after being ‘roasted’ by contestants over comments about dating younger

GOLDEN Bachelor Mel Owens has made his dating pool even smaller after eliminating four more women on Wednesday night’s episode.

The former NFL star said goodbye to 10 ladies out of 23 contestants in the Season 2 premiere last week.

Mel had already given 10 women the boot on last week’s Season 2 premiere

Mel again sped things up this week as he only gave roses to nine women, sending Terri, Monica B., Amy and Monica P. packing.

It came after he presented Nicolle and Debbie with roses on their one-on-one dates with the football star.

The ladies also had a slumber party with Season 1 contestants, Kathy and Susan, who advised them to show their interest in Mel and left them with an NSFW parting gift.

Another memorable moment occurred at the beginning of the episode, when Mel challenged the women to “roast” him in front of a live studio audience.

He enlisted the help of comedian and The Bachelor franchise superfan Jared Freid to assist the ladies in writing their material, and they each delivered their best digs on stage.

However, most of the contestants shared the same beef with this season’s leading man, as many brought up his recent remarks about preferring to date younger women.

Mel made the controversial comments during an appearance on the In the Trenches podcast in June, where he revealed his strategy as the Golden Bachelor was to “cut” any of the show’s contestants who were 60 years or older.

All but one contestant on the show is over the age of 60, which Mel seemed to overlook at the time.

He later apologized after receiving backlash online and even addressed his verbal blunder on the first episode.

The ladies clearly still haven’t forgotten his remark and took a swipe at his apparent interest in younger women during their roasts.

Some even brought up Mel and his ex-wife, Fabiana Pimente’s age gap, as the mother of his two kids is 20 years his junior.

Mel ended up picking Nicolle as the winner of the roast, offering her a one-on-one dinner date.

The yoga instructor took the opportunity to grill Mel about his past relationship, prompting Mel to open up about his divorce.

Mel revealed that Fabiana had initiated the split, as she presented him with divorce papers.

As reported by Us Weekly, Fabiana filed for divorce after 18 years of marriage with the Los Angeles Rams alum when she fell in love with another man during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The exes endured a five-year court battle before finalizing their divorce in December 2024.

They were awarded joint custody of their grown sons, Lucas and Andre, according to court documents obtained by the Daily Mail.

The outlet also reported that Fabiana issued a “warning” that the show was “going to be bad,” and insisted she didn’t want any part in her ex’s newfound reality TV career.
