Former Kansas City Chiefs star given career lifeline in UFL after reviving career in spring football

BREELAND SPEAKS has turned a leaf on his career in the UFL following his struggles in the NFL.

Speaks, 29, famously joined the Kansas City Chiefs as a second-round Draft pick back in 2018.

That was after the defensive end’s impressive college stint at Ole Miss.

However, the Jackson, Mississippi native struggled to shine with the Chiefs and that led to his departure only a year later before joining the Las Vegas Raiders in 2020.

Nevertheless, Speaks never managed to hit a high note despite going on to play for other notable NFL franchises.

That included the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Buffalo Bills, San Francisco 49ers and Jacksonville Jaguars.

Speaks ultimately decided to try something else, and that led him to the UFL.

The Callaway graduate is currently undergoing his third stint with the Michigan Panthers.

Speaks spent most of the 2025 season on the injured reserve list.

However, he has a lot of hope to hold onto following his impressive displays in his previous two stints with the Panthers.

In 2023, he led the league in sacks with a total of nine of them.

And a year later he led the league in sacks again (9.5).

That was when Speaks won Defensive Player of the Year as well.
