COSTA Rican authorities have yet to rule out homicide in the death of Brett Gardner’s son, Miller.
The 14-year-old boy died at a luxury resort in the country on March 21.

Initial theories suggested that severe food poisoning or an extreme reaction to medication could have been responsible for Miller’s death.
However, the investigation has yet to be closed nearly three months later as questions have yet to be answered.
“The purpose of the investigation is precisely to determine whether or not we are dealing with a possible homicide,” Sharon Hernandez Coto, a press officer from the Prosecutor’s Office of Costa Rica told ESPN.
“For this reason, it is not possible at this time to confirm or rule out that a crime has been committed.
“The aim is to determine whether it was a natural or homicidal death.”
Authorities are seeking to determine if it was a homicide in order to “establish responsibility.”
Hernandez Coto was unable to provide any further information about the investigation.
“The Quepos and Parrita Prosecutor’s Office indicated that it is not possible to provide more details beyond those already supplied, as the case is under investigation, a stage which is private for third parties,” she said.
“We appreciate your understanding.”
Upon ESPN’s probing, the prosecutors office did point towards a 33-page manual on Costa Rican criminal procedure.
The first stage details collection and analysis of evidence, warrants, and autopsies.
The second stage involves filing formal charges.
The third stage would involve a possible trial.
It isn’t clear which stage in the process authorities are at in the Gardner investigation.
