A 60 year old woman shot her 35 year old husband in Nakhon Pathom yesterday, November 19, after he returned to his ex-wife and asked her to accept a throuple relationship.
Police from Nakhon Chai Si Police Station responded to reports of a shooting at a house in Soi Khun Kaew 10, Khun Kaew sub-district, where they found the injured man, 35 year old Sumate.
The injured man was lying beside his motorcycle with gunshot wounds to his body and right leg. Officers found four .38 bullet casings at the scene and a bloodstained shirt on his motorcycle.
A witness told police that Sumate had been arguing with his 60 year old wife, Sunan, moments before the shooting. The witness discovered Sumate bleeding heavily while Sunan fled in a white sedan.
Police tracked down Sunan in the Lan Tak Fah sub-district and found the .38 firearm inside her vehicle.
During questioning, Sunan admitted to the shooting and explained her motive. She said she had been in a relationship with Sumate for six years and had cared for him throughout the nine months he spent in prison.
Nevertheless, after his release, he distanced himself from her and rekindled a relationship with his ex-wife. Sunan said that when she confronted him, Sumate apologised but asked her to accept a three-person relationship.
Sumate reportedly promised to spend Friday to Sunday with her each week, but she refused and demanded that he choose one partner.
She told police she followed Sumate for three days to observe his routine. On the day of the incident, she confronted him again, but he refused to discuss the relationship. Overcome with anger, she shot him.
Police charged Sunan with attempted murder. Under Section 288 of the Criminal Law, the penalty for attempted murder carries a possible death sentence, life imprisonment, or 15 to 20 years in prison.
