Ranveer Singh got caught under fire after he mimicked Rishab Shetty at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2025 closing ceremony in Goa. The mimicry quickly escalated under stormy lights, and Ranveer Singh faced backlash.
Taking to Instagram, the actor issued a public apology, stating, “My intention was to highlight Rishabh’s incredible performance in the film. Actor to actor, I know how much it would take to perform that particular scene in the way that he did, for which he has my utmost admiration.” He further added, “I have always deeply respected every culture, tradition and belief in our country. If I’ve hurt anyone’s sentiments, I sincerely apologise.”

His mimic came after he went on the stage and hailed Rishab Shetty’s work in Kantara. He said, “I watched Kantara Chapter 1 in theatres, and Rishab, it was an outstanding performance, especially when the female ghost (Chamundi daiva) enters your body – that shot was amazing,” per India Today.
However, at the time of the incident, Rishab Shetty was seen enjoying it with a light-hearted approach. Social media users found it disrespectful. Later, footage also went viral when Rishab Shetty was seen warning the former not to mimic him, which later propelled even more rage amongst the netizens.
