The former Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver spoke at a “Hope for Prisoners” event at the Billy Walters Center for Second Chances.

Ruggs was driving at speeds up to 156mph when his car crashed in November 2021.

His vehicle slammed into a car driven by Tina Tentor, 23.

Tina and her dog died in the incident, and the former wide receiver said sorry to her family.

“One, I wish I could turn back the hands of time,” Ruggs said this week.

“I would love for them to meet the real Henry Ruggs and not the one that was escaping from something.

“I sincerely apologize for not only being a part of that situation, but the fact my face is always in the news, it’s always in the newspaper.

“So they have to constantly be reminded of the situation, be reminded of me.”

Ruggs pled guilty to felony DUI causing death and vehicular manslaughter.

His car was traveling at more than three times the 45mph speed limit in the area.

And blood samples after the crash showed he had a 0.16% alcohol level, twice the legal Nevada limit.

He was sentenced to between three and 10 years in prison.

Ruggs was a first-round NFL Draft pick out of Alabama in 2020.

The wide receiver was released by the Raiders on the same day as the fatal crash in 2021.

He pleaded guilty in May 2023 and is eligible for parole in August 2026.

Tintor’s mom issued a statement after he was sentenced.

It read, “We pray that Henry Ruggs is blessed with the opportunity to be able watch his beautiful daughter grow into the amazing woman she can be.

“And we pray that this terrible accident inspires positive change in the world.

“We pray that we all take away the importance of looking out for one another.

“Remembering everyone we meet is another human’s loved one.”
