Chick-fil-A bans common item effective immediately with scathing new message – and reveals $1 charge for drink holders

CHICK-fil-A has rolled out a ban on a common item, announcing the change via a scathing new message.

As the fast food chain vows to no longer provide bags to certain customers, they will also be forced to cough up $1 for drink holders.

While Chick-fil-A is known for its top-notch service, some customers have complained about a recent policy change.

The chain will no longer hand out bags or drink holders free of charge for certain pickup orders.

The change, impacting drivers for third-party delivery services such as DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Postmates, was revealed in a Facebook post to the DoorDash Drivers group on Monday.

An anonymous user shared a photo of an orange sign announcing the policy switch-up.

“Attention third party,” began the notice. “You are provided bags and carriers through the company you are delivering for. You are supposed to be using these when picking up your orders.

“This is part of our contract with these companies. Due to this, we will no longer be providing bags or drink carriers to third parties.”

The bottom of the announcement stated that delivery drivers would, however, be able to purchase a drink carrier for $1.

WHAT THE CLUCK?

Many third-party drivers were left fuming over the Chick-fil-A change.

“Who has stopped eating Chick-fil-A because of how they treat us?” cried one.

Several DoorDashers complained that the new policy was ridiculous and that the chain “is doing too much” considering that drivers are often not provided with carrier bags or drink holders by their companies.

“Yes, I have a hot bag, but not container bags. They really think we are provided with drink carriers? GTFO. I purchased my own and it sits in a hot bag I purchased to help keep drinks cold and safe,” said one DoorDash worker.

Many others fumed that they would not be purchasing supplies for the convenience of Chick-fil-A’s customers.

“It’s not like the DoorDasher is keeping them,” said one driver. “They are going to the customer. The same customer that would be given one FOR FREE had they been the one to pick it up.”

“The drink carrier is for the customer not the driver…” complained another worker.

Chick-fil-A Hours

At a minimum, Chick-fil-A locations are open between 6:30 am and 9 pm, Monday through Saturday.

However, some restaurants serve customers later.

Since opening in 1946, all Chick-fil-A locations have been closed on Sundays.

The founder chose to close on Sundays to allow employees to worship or rest.

All locations are also closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas.

“So if the customer went there instead of doing DoorDash would they tell them they don’t get a bag or drink carrier? They’re paying for the meal either way,” argued one driver.

Several DoorDash workers called for a Chick-fil-A boycott, urging others to unassign or decline any orders from Chick-fil-A.

“Pull this on me and that poor customer doesn’t get their order,” fumed one driver.

“Try that with me and I’ll report you to DoorDash,” complained a second.

A few DoorDash drivers speculated that the change was not being implemented across the board, with one commenting that the policy sounded like an annoyed store manager rather than a Chick-fil-A company policy.

Another user mentioned that they had reached out to Chick-fil-A corporate, and was informed that none of the chain’s restaurants had that policy in place.

“I was even told that the signage has been posted on social media implicating several companies,” they said. “Per CFA, any notices must be printed on company letterhead and must be approved by the regional director.”

The U.S. Sun reached out to Chick-fil-A for comment about the policy change.
