A LONGTIME McDonald’s customer has been left furious after spotting a sharp increase to the cost of their meal.
They called out the fast food giant and demanded changes, but the uptick in price is fairly common through their ordering method.

McDonald’s, like many restaurants nowadays, offers delivery and pickup options through DoorDash.
DoorDash charges necessary fees to pay its delivery drivers (Dashers) and make money as a business, but some are arguing recently that costs are getting out of hand.
“You not lying!!! Shit like this is ridiculous!!!” a McDonald’s fan wrote in a post on X in May.
“@McDonalds and @DoorDash should be ashamed of this!!”

Included in their post was a snapshot of their DoorDash order from McDonald’s.
It listed a Double Cheeseburger Meal with a large Hi-C Orange fountain drink and large French Fries.
Total cost for the meal itself was $9.39 not far off what it would be in-person at McDonald’s over 13,600 locations nationwide.
Except the delivery fee was $2.49, and fees and estimated tax were $4.22.
After a tip for the driver of $2.50, the total came out to $19.60.
That’s over double the cost of the initial meal, even with a $1 off promotional coupon the consumer had.
McDonald’s and DoorDash haven’t responded to the complaint, but it would seem that it costs quite a bit for the delivery convenience.
It’s also not the first time this issue has been pointed out by McDonald’s diners this year.
Another customer cited a $10 meal that skyrocketed to $25 after fees and other costs through DoorDash.
“Imagine instead of $10, you pay $25 for 2 McDonalds cheeseburgers. Absolutely insane,” they fumed on X.

PRICING PAINS
McDonald’s is continuing to focus on value offerings in 2025 after it came under scrutiny in recent years for pricing.
A Big Mac meal for $18 in Connecticut went viral in 2023, and last year there was significant pushback from a 40-piece Chicken McNuggets Bundle that was listed at $25.39.
Since then, McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski and CFO Ian Borden have emphasized the company’s mission to assist the “low-income customer” more.
“What you’re going to see is more attention to affordability,” Kempczinski noted on an earnings call at the end of last year.
Borden also noted that McDonald’s would “continue to be consumer-led in our pricing decisions and, knowing the environment will continue to be competitive.”
McDonald’s has seemingly held to that promise with the introduction of the $5 Meal Deal and McValue Menu.
Even so, customers were still calling out prices last summer.
Fast food workers have also claimed they’re struggling to afford to eat meals at the restaurants where they work in 2025.
An expert also told The US Sun recently that five trends are pushing fast food prices higher overall.
