A POPULAR chicken chain that fans have dubbed “wayyyy better than Canes” is opening 50 more locations in 2025.
The new openings put them on track to pass a huge milestone, and will see the chain expand into new regions.

The chicken chain Zaxbys is mainly found in the southeast of the US, instates like Georgia, Florida and Alabama.
But Zaxbys confirmed on June 12 that it is expanding into new areas, specifically looking at places like Nevada and Arizona out west.
Zaxbys currently operates over 950 spots in 17 states, and plans to have opened an additional 50 by the end of the year.
This would put the chain on track to surpass 1,000 locations.
Zaxbys told USA Today: “In addition to these new market ventures, Zaxbys has continued to expand in previously established Southeast markets in 2025 with new locations through Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Indiana, Tennessee and more.”
The chain has confirmed that some of the upcoming restaurants are actually launching within days.
Zaxbys is opening a new location in Eustis, Florida on June 23, and has just opened another in Columbus, Indiana on June 16.
The company is opening its first-ever location in Phoenix, Arizona next month.
Earlier this year, Zaxbys opened in Nevada, on April 14.
A second one is slated to open in July, too, as it expands into new territories.
They commented: “Following this second new state entry of the year, Zaxbys also has plans to expand its Southern roots to additional new markets in 2025 including Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland, Illinois, Ohio, New Jersey and more, in addition to opening new stores in currently established Southeastern markets.”
So far in 2025, Zaxbys has opened 16 of its planned 50 new locations already.
Zaxbys has been opening locations since way back min January, and has been steadily launching new spots ever since.
The new locations already opened include:
- Cochran, Georgia: Opened June 2
- Spartanburg, South Carolina: Opened May 26
- Richmond Hill, Georgia: Opened May 12
- Bristol, Tennessee: Opened May 12
- Vincennes, Indiana: Opened April 21
- Las Vegas, Nevada: Opened April 14
- Charlotte, North Carolina: Opened April 7
- Chapel Hill, North Carolina: Opened April 2
- Locust, North Carolina: Opened March 17
- Leavenworth, Kansas: Opened March 3
- Spartanburg, South Carolina: Opened Feb. 24
- Valdosta, Georgia: Opened Feb. 24
- Spartanburg, South Carolina: Opened Feb. 3
- Rocky Mount, Virginia: Opened Jan. 27
- Brookhaven, Georgia: Opened Jan. 20
- Natchez, Mississippi: Opened Jan. 6
GROWING SUPPORT
Online, the expanding Zaxbys is growing in support from customers, with some even believing the chain to be better than Raising Cane’s.
On social media, one person wrote: “Zaxbys 10/10 wayyyy better than Canes.”
And in the comments, similar support was shown.
One person said: “Been telling people this.”
While someone else noted: “My first time trying em. I’m never going back to canes.”
