LAY’S has rolled out a new flavor inspired by a popular comfort food that was voted for by fans, but some have still been left disappointed.
The new flavor was chosen by tens of thousands of fans as a part of the annual $1 million contest last week.

The contest has seen several weird and wacky flavors picked in the past, from Cheesy Garlic Bread to Southern Biscuits and Gravy.
This year, the winning flavor came from Paula George in Oklahoma, and beat out more than 70,000 other submissions.
Paula created the Bacon Grilled Cheese flavor, and it will now be sold at stores nationwide.
On its website, Lay’s said: “Submitted by Paula George from Sapulpa, Okla., this winning flavor is a savory, nostalgic ode combining two of everyone’s favorites – bacon & grilled cheese!
“George drew inspiration from her late father’s bacon grilled cheese recipe and hopes the flavor will bring fans a similar memory of a delicious favorite meal, enjoyed on the cheesy crunch of a Lay’s potato chip.”
Responding to her victory, she told News 9: “I am so honored to be named the Lay’s Do Us A Flavor winner.
“Seeing Lay’s Bacon Grilled Cheese flavored potato chips brought to life was a dream come true in itself.
“And knowing that thousands of Lay’s fans across the country tried and loved it, just as much as I did, fills me with immense joy and gratitude for this opportunity.”
Fans voted in the contest from April to June of this year, and chose three finalists.
The two runner-ups pitched a Valentina & Lime flavor, as well as a Wavy Korean-Style Fried Chicken one.
But there is still a lot to be won for coming second and third in the contest.
Although they lost out on first place, the two runner-ups will still receive $500,000 each and have their flavours in stores for a limited time.
FAN REACTION
On social media, there was a decidedly mixed reaction, with some praising the winner, and some claiming other flavors were better.
On X, one fan said they felt the winning pick was “disappointing”.
They wrote: “I never got to even try the others, they were nowhere to be found.
“This was the only one out of the 3 that I didn’t even want. Disappointing.”
But on Instagram, there was more support for the Lay’s Bacon Grilled Cheese.
One person said: “Those chips are fantastic.”
And another wrote: “Yay!!! They were the best!!! YUMMMM!!!”
There were still some who believed that one of the other two should have taken top spot.
One comment on the Lay’s announcement post read: “This was the worst of the 3 lmao.”
