WITH sun weather upon us, many people have been turning their attention to their gardens to make them look their best.
And one tool that could make a difference is a $1.25 cultivator, which is available at Dollar Tree.

Their garden cultivator comes in four colours[/caption]
The budget gardening tool is perfect for loosening soil, removing weeds and mixing in compost or fertilizer.
It can also be used for preparing garden beds or for tending a small vegetable patch.
Dollar Tree’s 12-inch item comes with a “Soft-Grip Handle” and could help you keep your garden thriving with less effort.
You can also choose from four colours to suit your taste, including blue and green.
It is also a fraction of the price of nearly an identical Amazon version, which costs $17.16.
This alternative has a stainless steel handle with an Ergo Gel Grip and measures 11-inch.
If you are on a budget, the Dollar Tree’s version could do the job for less, being over $15 cheaper.
It also currently has a five-star ranking, with one person leaving a glowing review about how “comfortable” it is.
They said: “Would love to have some brighter colors so they’ll be easier to find in the garden.
“These are a more comfortable grip although not as long as the older wood handled ones you’ve carried in the past.

“Great feel, comfortable grips.
“I will leave one in the house for my vermiculture use and buy another one or 2 for outdoors.”
SUMMER GARDENING TIPS
A gardening expert has revealed the exact amount of seconds to water plants during a heatwave.
High temperatures can cause wilting, leaf scorch, stunted growth and a reduced ability to photosynthesis.

You should water plants in the morning before it gets too hot[/caption]
There’s all sorts of ways you can reduce the pressure on the plants to cope.
If you’ve got plants in pots – move them into the shade – and group them together – so they give each other protection.
Water early in the morning before it starts getting really hot – so it doesn’t all evaporate – or if that’s not an option – when the sun has gone down.
However morning is the best option – as slugs move around at night and love the damp soil.

It’s best to give them a really good soaking once or twice a week rather than a light water daily.
And experts reckon you should count to between 15 and 20 seconds as you water each plant, to make sure the water soaks down through the soil to the roots.
It’s not what we want, but there’s no problem with letting your lawn go brown – if it’s healthy it will cope – and the green will return when there’s a bit of rain.
Raise your mower’s cutting level and let the cuttings fall as mulch on the lawn to keep in moisture.
