He is back on the practice field with the Chiefs ahead of the 2025 season.

The quarterback is determined to get back on top of the NFL’s mountain after last year’s Super Bowl defeat.

But he also has a keen interest in other sports, particularly in his home state Texas.

Mahomes is a fan of the Dallas Mavericks and often seen sat court side at their games.

And the franchise celebrated a historic moment Wednesday night.

The Mavericks selected Cooper Flagg with the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA Draft.

Teen prospect Flagg was selected after lighting up college basketball with Duke.

Mahomes celebrated his team selecting the 18-year-old superstar.

He retweeted a post earlier in the night claiming Kyrie Irving was ready to sign a new contract with the team.

And Mahomes also showed his excitement at the Mavs’ new big three of Flagg, Irving and Anthony Davis.

The night helped change the mood for Dallas fans after February’s trade shocker.

They sent Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in a trade which left fans furious.

Mahomes was on the field at Kansas City Chiefs mini camp earlier this month.

He has largely kept a low profile this off-season since the Super Bowl defeat.

His team was thumped 40-22 by the Philadelphia Eagles in a loss that dashed hopes of a three-peat.

The quarterback did go and support his alma mater in college basketball in March.

He sat court side with wife Brittany at a Texas Tech men’s game ahead of the NCAA Tournament.

Mahomes also watched Game 7 of the NBA Finals Sunday night.

And he sent his prayers after a horror injury in the first quarter of the Indiana Pacers against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Tyrese Haliburton suffered a torn Achilles and Mahomes said, “Prayers up man.”
