A LOTTERY firm’s future has become more uncertain and could disappear in the coming years thanks to a new law.
The measure prompts a commission to investigate an agency responsible for the game and the results of the probe could see the organization vanish.

And, it comes after a lottery player is unable to take home her $83.5 million prize after buying a set of tickets legally.
Texas lottery chiefs have so far refused to pay out as they investigate how she bought the ticket.
She used a third-party courier service – a platform that has since been banned.
The group responsible for investigating the Texas Lottery is the Sunset Advisory Commission.
They want to ensure chiefs are doing everything they can to prevent the game’s integrity from being called into question.
The Texas Lottery could be abolished as of September 1, 2029, per USA Today.
But, the Sunset Advisory Commission’s probe isn’t unusual.
The legislative body reviews the Texas Lottery Commission every 12 years.
But, the organization’s future has become more uncertain given the high-profile nature of the $83.5 million case.

A European group bought tickets with different combinations on them to win the bumper prize.
The woman who thought she had won the $83.5 million prize bought her slip ahead of the February 17 draw.
She used the courier Jackpocket to buy $20 worth of tickets.
She is suing the Texas Lottery after she wasn’t paid out, and waived her anonymity in court.

What’s a courier service?
TEXAS lottery officials banned players from using courier services to buy tickets – one week after a gambler thought she had won $83.5 million. But what is a courier service?
A courier service is a third-party platform that allows players to buy lotto tickets.
Gamblers can buy tickets from a lotto courier app or its website. Then, once an order is placed, the courier then buys the ticket from a retailer.
The courier then sends a picture of the ticket to the player.The gambler pays the courier a fee so they can manage their tickets.
“We know there’s a winner,” Sergio Rey, the acting deputy executive director of the Texas Lottery Commission.
“We know she’s a claimant.”
Meanwhile, the woman’s lawyer, Randy Howry, previously told The U.S. Sun she was caught in the crossfire.
In May, he warned that the possibility of legal action was on the table.
Lotto officials started to probe Moriarty’s win – a week after she thought she prevailed.
Courier services were banned by the lottery in April.
They were an alternative for gamblers who didn’t want to buy tickets at a store.
Jackpocket chiefs decided to suspend its operation in Texas after courier services were banned.
Bosses said the platform, which had been running in Texas since 2019, always operated within the law.
