BILL Belichick has been hit with a major blow before his first college football season even began.
The University of North Carolina is making a major leadership change within its athletic department just months before the football season.

Belichick’s athletic director, Bubba Cunningham, is leaving his position[/caption]
Athletic Director Bubba Cunningham is set to move to a new position for the 2025 season.
He took over in 2011, but is entering the final year of his role before transitioning to Senior Advisor to the Chancellor and Athletic Director next summer.
Cunningham’s change in position was announced alongside a two-year contract extension.
Steve Newmark, the president of Nascar team Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing, will replace Cunningham as AD.
“As part of my last contract extension, I committed to working with University leadership on a succession plan that would positively position Carolina Athletics and our 28 teams for the future,” Cunningham said in a statement.
“I appreciate the opportunity to extend my contract and enhance my role in a way that will allow me to continue to support our outstanding student-athletes, coaches and staff as we transition and navigate the changing athletics landscape.
“I am excited for the future.”
For the next year, Newmark will take on the role of Executive Associate Athletic Director.
His position will report to Cunningham and focus on generating revenue for the UNC football and basketball teams.
While there is some shakeup in leadership at UNC, that hasn’t stopped Belichick from doing his job.
The former New England Patriots head coach has hit the recruiting trail hard, building a top freshman class for 2026.
According to 247 Sports, UNC has the No. 20 ranked recruiting class in all of college football.
The school has already pulled in 28 commitments, 25 coming from three-stars and three being four-stars.
Belichick’s top prospect is Trashawn Ruffin, the No. 12 prospect in North Carolina.

He is a four-star defensive lineman out of Mt. Olive, North Carolina.
Belichick also got his future quarterback in four-star Travis Burgess.
Burgess is ranked as the No. 16 quarterback prospect in the country and comes out of Loganville, Georgia.
Belichick will likely continue his recruitment throughout the offseason and into the 2025 season.
