An eagle eyed employee has revealed that shoppers will no longer be able to find Maldon Salt on shelves.
The caption of the Reddit post confirmed that their store has not placed any on order, and it is unclear if it ever will again.
It says: “Store confirmed they have none on order and no idea if it will ever be available again.
“No stores in the northeast have it… I am in the northern Virginia DC metro… Sad day for me.”
It is not known why Costco has discontinued the item, or if it is the same in other regions of the US.
In the comments, customers said that the salt normally lasts them so long that they could live off their current box for a while.
One person wrote: “The first bucket I got from Amazon lasted me 5 years.
“I got a new one at Costco last year and I’ll be good for another 4.”
And another noted: “Unfortunate, but to be honest that stuff lasts me so long that I’ll be fine paying a few dollars more for it at the grocery store.”
Others revealed the status of the Maldon Salt at other Costco locations across the country.
A couple of people reported seeing it in the state of California.
One comment confirmed: “It’s not deleted in Orange county California!”
And another reported: “Saw it yesterday in Southern California store. Fully stocked.”
It was then confirmed that the Costco in question is located in Chino Hills.

PRICE PRAISE
But the loss of the Costco Maldon Salt in some Costco locations has upset some people.
This is mainly due top the price of it in Costco, especially as Maldon is a niche, luxury brand.
One comment said: “The fact that Costco had Maldon salt to begin with blows my mind.
“A tiny box is at least $12 where I live.
“To see a massive tub for $6.99 is insane especially since it’s a niche gourmet brand.
“Keep in mind it is a finishing salt. You don’t need a lot; a tub will last forever.”
And another said: “Wow, I bought a 3.1 lb tub on Amazon for $24.78 about 5 weeks ago.
“I just checked the price and it’s over $45? What’s going on??”
The US Sun has contacted Costco for comment on the discontinuation, but did not hear back right away.
