Actress Sheena Bajaj is currently basking in the joy and challenges of pregnancy while taking a conscious break from the screen. In a heartfelt conversation with IWMBuzz.com, the Vanshaj star opens up about her journey to motherhood, her pride in husband Rohit Purohit’s rising stardom, and her future plans in the entertainment industry.
Sheena admits that while pregnancy brings happiness, it also comes with physical struggles. “Honestly, I am enjoying pregnancy 90 per cent in the washroom only,” she says with a laugh. “There are so many symptoms, and as you get heavier, walking becomes difficult. But the happiest moments are when the baby kicks—there is no feeling like that.”
He makes time for me, takes care of me even from a distance, and still gives his best to work. That balance is what I cherish the most.
Cravings have also made their way into her routine. “I never used to eat fried or sweet things, but now I really crave dosas, South Indian food, and sometimes samosas. I was diagnosed with thyroid and diabetes when I got pregnant and I have always had PCOD. So I have to be careful. But my doctor has allowed me a little indulgence—so cakes and pastries are on my list too.”
Speaking about her husband Rohit Purohit, currently winning accolades for his performance in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Sheena beams with pride. “Rohit is finally getting the recognition he has always deserved. He has worked in every phase of life with full dedication. I saw his talent when I was 19, and we got married when I was 24. He is genuinely gifted.”
She continues, “He works day and night—his eyes are swollen, he is tired and exhausted, but he still gives 100%. He has done many leading shows, but this time, the audience is noticing and appreciating him. I watch every episode of Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, and even though he is away on shoot while I am going through this phase largely on my own, seeing him shine on the screen brings me joy.”
As a fan and a wife, Sheena feels that Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai has brought out Rohit’s best work. “He is killing it. The way he balances intense emotions with strong screen presence—it is one of his most powerful performances yet.”
People don’t know how emotional and funny he is. While audiences see Rohit as a serious performer, Sheena reveals a softer, lighter side. “He is very emotional and also very funny—people don’t see that side. Over time, my crazy personality has rubbed off on him,” she laughs. “He used to keep to himself, but now he is much more open and real, and I love that.”
She also appreciates how grounded he remains. “Fame can make people lose grip, but Rohit is still rooted. The sense of responsibility he carries—knowing when and how to be there for me—is something I deeply admire.”
For Sheena, true couple goals lie in consistency and presence. “He makes time for me, takes care of me even from a distance, and still gives his best to work. That balance is what I cherish the most. Stardom has not changed him—and it never will.”
Addressing her temporary break from acting, Sheena explains, “My show ended in July, and soon after, I got pregnant. So yes, it’s been a deliberate decision to take time off. I didn’t want to deliver the baby and rush back to work. I need this time for my mental and physical well-being.”
But her creative plans remain ambitious. “Acting is in my heart, and I will definitely return. In fact, I want to do more—I want to direct, produce, and create content. Once the feeding phase is over and I feel ready again, I will be back—not just on screen, but behind the camera too.”
