Epic Games, behind Fortnite, is shelling out a huge $126million on the refunds[/caption]

Epic Games, the company behind the game, is paying out $126million to settle allegations relating to in-game purchases.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has been reviewing claims by players claiming to have been unfairly charged.

It has ruled that some players were charged for unwanted purchases.

The body also said that Fortnite has allowed children to rack up charges without their parents’ permission, and blocked users who disputed charges from accessing the content they had purchased.

Those eligible for a refund include anyone who was charged in-game for unwanted items between January 2017 and September 2022.

Alternatively, you can claim if your child made charges to your credit card without your knowledge between January 2017 and November 2018.

Finally, you could be eligible if your account was locked at any point between January 2017 and September 2022 after you complained to your credit card company about wrongful charges.

The FTC is sending 969,173 payments to settle these claims.

It has only processed claims lodged by February 14, 2025.

Anyone who submitted a claim after that date should wait for more details from the FTC.

The money will be paid via the route that players selected in the claim process.

PayPal payments must be accepted within 30 days, and checks cashed within 90 days.

You must be over 18-years-old to file a claim, or get a parent or guardian to do so on your behalf.

The deadline to apply for refunds is July 9, 2025.

Meanwhile, time is running out for Americans to file claims for a share of $4.5 million privacy settlement.

Eligible claimants can receive payments without any proof of purchase but will need to submit a form before August 19.

The settlement alleges that Criterion Collection, a film distribution company, violated several privacy laws.

According to the class action lawsuit, the firm shared subscriber information with third parties such as Meta and Twilio.

And thousandth of Americans are being urged to check if they are eligible to claim payments from a $10million settlement.

It is now the final chance for those affected by the class action lawsuit to apply for the cash – and no proof is needed.

According to a class action lawsuit, plus-size clothing retailer Torrid allegedly ran deceptive discount ads on its website.

Consumers who took legal action said they would not have purchased products from Torrid if they knew the company did not offer the advertised discounts.
