SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – Saturday in Spearfish Canyon, a rockslide sent boulders tumbling down a cliffside, blocking U.S. Highway 14A near Savoy, S.D.
The South Dakota DOT posted photos of the rocks and debris on Facebook. They say due to the unstable cliff side the road will be closed indefinitely. Roadblocks were placed on either side of the road. The southern roadblock is north of Long Valley Ln. The northern roadblock is south of Victoria Ln.
According to officials going around the the roadblock either with a vehicle or on foot is prohibited and will be met by law enforcement. There will be blasting teams and DOT working in the area.
