NIKOLA JOKIC has made a major decision on his future with the Denver Nuggets.

The three-time NBA MVP has at least two years left on his current supermax contract, which he has the option to extend for the 2027-28 season.

The Nuggets brass were hoping to tie their key man down to a new deal during the off-season.

But the beloved Jokic reportedly has other plans.

That’s according to The Denver Post, who claim the Serb has told Nuggets bigwigs he won’t put pen to paper on a new contract in the off-season.

They claim Jokic has told the higher-ups that he wishes to resume contract talks in the summer of 2026.

The news comes in the same week Jokic became eligible for a new deal at the Ball Arena.

That deal, which is rumoured to be worth a whopping $207million, would extend his stay with the franchise by an additional three years.

He could add an extra $80m to his bank account by putting off inking a new deal until 2026.

The Nuggets brass made their intention to offer Jokic a new deal known last month, with KSE vice chairman Josh Kroenke saying: “We’re definitely going to offer it [this summer].

“I’m not sure if he’s going to accept it or not, because we’re also going to explain every financial parameter around him signing now versus signing later.

“To be completely transparent, that’s the way we always are.

“And then he makes the best decision for himself and his family, and we’ll support him in it.”

The 2025 season was an incredible one for Jokic, who became the first center in NBA history to average a triple-double for the entirety of the campaign.
