Viewers will notice a fresh new face when Danny Reagan’s youngest son, Sean joins him in CBS’ upcoming drama series Boston Blue.
Stepping into the role will be Mika Amonsen who will be replacing former cast member Andrew Terraciano.
Mika is known for his appearances in the flicks Thanksgiving, Midway and Danger Next Door.
According to show sources the recasting of Sean is to reflect a new creative direction of the character, who will be following in the footsteps of his family into law enforcement.
The newly changed character will reportedly provide context behind Danny Reagan’s, played by Donnie Wahlberg, relocation from New York to Boston.
The decision has sparked mixed reactions from fans with some gushing over the recast, taking to social media one user said: “Watched every season, and this is great news. Mika Amonsen is hot!”
“This is an upgrade,” chimed another
“This new guy is probably gonna get a love interest,” added a third.
Meanwhile, some were not quite as impressed, with one fan commenting: “This is so lame!”
Another penned: “This is a bold move,” whilst a third added: “I hate recasts!”.
The popular drama series landed the spin-off, two months on from its final ever episode which left fans heartbroken.
But now the show’s universe will continue through the upcoming spinoff.
Following Danny Reagan, the project has landed a straight-to-series order at CBS.
Rather than Blue Bloods’ New York setting, Danny is moving to the Boston Police Department.
He will be partnered with Detective Lena Peters, described as “the eldest daughter of a prominent law enforcement family.”
With the title Boston Blue, the script comes from Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis.
Launching in 2010, Blue Bloods aired for a total of 275 episodes altogether.
The procedural followed members of an Irish-American family in New York City, with strong ties to law enforcement.
Tom Selleck led the cast as Frank Reagan, starring opposite Donnie.
Further cast members included Will Estes, Bridget Moynahan and Vanessa Ray.
