SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Somerset Police concluded an undercover mission that resulted in the arrest of three individuals accused of attempting to engage in commercial sexual activity with minors.
According to a press release, on Wednesday July 9, the Somerset Police Department Detective Division, in partnership with the Swansea Police Detective Division and the Massachusetts State Police High-Risk Victims Unit conducted a joint mission targeting individuals attempting to engage in commercial sexual activity with minors.
The operation took place at a “pre-determined location” in Somerset and resulted in the arrest of three individuals who were under the belief that they would be meeting a minor for sexual purposes.
Fabio A Gomes, age 38 of Taunton, Massachusetts, is charged with Paying for Sexual Contact with a Child Under 18, Enticing a Child Under 16 and Attempt to Commit a Crime.
John J. Kelley, age 78 of Taunton, Massachusetts, is charged with Paying for Sexual Contact with a Child Under 18, Enticing a Child Under 16 and Attempt to Commit a Crime.
Gillbert Travassos, age 54 of Fall River, Massachusetts, is also charged with Paying for Sexual Contact with a Child Under 18, Enticing a Child Under 16 and Attempt to Commit a Crime.
“The most effective way to protect our vulnerable populations is through a collaborative, multi-agency approach with our local and state partners,” said Chief Tedford in the press release.
All three individuals will face arraignment in Fall River District Court.
