Bradshaw appeared on the latest episode of To The Point – Home Services Podcast and discussed numerous topics, including his early days.

The Louisiana native spoke about his days as an athlete in high school in Shreveport.

While Bradshaw’s goal was to play professional football, the younger also participated in track and field, and he was quite good at it.

“My claim to fame coming out of high school was track and field,” Bradshaw said in front of a live audience with the home services podcast.

The podcast host made sure to remind the audience that Bradshaw’s particular skill was throwing the javelin.

“I was the world record holder for 17-year-olds for [throwing the] javelin,” Bradshaw added.

Bradshaw set the national record for throwing the javelin at 245 feet at Woodlawn High School.

His efforts even got him a spot in the Sports Illustrated feature Faces in the Crowd magazine.

But Bradshaw decided to continue his football path as there was money in the sport, unlike track and field.

“I didn’t want to throw the javelin,” he said.

“I wanted to play football.

“I could’ve gone to colleges anywhere in the world.

“There was not a lot of money in the javelin.”

Bradshaw would be recruited by his former Fox NFL Sunday teammate and Dallas Cowboys icon Jimmy Johnson to attend Louisiana Tech University.

The rest would be history as he graduated owning almost all of Louisiana Tech’s passing records at the time.

And Bradshaw would be selected with the No. 1 overall pick by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1970 NFL Draft.

He’d lead the Steelers to four Super Bowl titles in six years.

Bradshaw would be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1989.

He has worked on the hit NFL pregame show Fox NFL Sunday since its inception in 1994.
