SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Sioux Falls native Marcus Phillips was selected by the Boston Red Sox with the 33rd overall pick in the 2025 MLB Draft.
He made 36 appearances with 19 starts and a 4.11 ERA over 103 innings in two seasons with the Tennessee Volunteers. Phillips went 4-5 this season with a 3.90 ERA in 17 starts. Opponents his .233 against him during his time with the Vols.
The Roosevelt High School product began his college career at Iowa Western Community College in 2023.
His father, Steve, played five years of pro baseball in the New York Yankees organization in the early 1990s. He then spent 10 years coaching in the minor leagues.
