Fox NFL Sunday makes new hire as ex-ESPN star joins team to replace longtime veteran who left after 23 years

AFTER a contentious split from ESPN, Allison Williams has landed back on her feet.

The reporter is joining Fox Sports as the network’s newest sideline reporter.

The move comes after sideline reporter Laura Okmin stepped away from Fox after 23 years.

Okmin was offered a contract renewal, but decided to walk away from TV as a whole.

Williams will take over from Okmin after serving as Fox’s college football sideline reporter.

Okmin spent the 2024 NFL season alongside Kevin Kugler and Daryl Johnston.

It isn’t yet clear whether or not Williams will take over that exact role.

After moving to Fox, Williams worked with Jason Benetti and Brock Huard.

That broadcast team will look much different in 2025 with Huard stepping down and Robert Griffin III filling his role.

Fox will also need a new sideline reporter for its No. 2 college football booth.

Williams started with Fox in 2022 after a high-profile split with ESPN.

She refused to follow the network’s Covid-19 vaccine mandate, leading to the split.

“This will be the first fall in the last 15 years I won’t be on the sidelines for College Football,” Williams posted at the time.

“My heart hurts posting this but I’m at peace with my decision.”

All on-site ESPN employees were mandated to be vaccinated in order to follow league, conference, and stadium protocols.

Some unvaccinated employees could work remotely, but a sideline reporter couldn’t complete remote work.

A month after her absences from sideline reporting, Williams left ESPN for Ben Shapiro’s The Daily Wire.

She hosted a show called BreakAways, an eight part original series with athletes and coaches who “stood firm in their convictions.”

Guests included Tony Dungy, Cole Beasley, Jonathan Isaac, Dana White, and Nick Rolovich.

Williams was at ESPN for over 10 years before leaving the company in 2021.
