TRAVELERS have been issued a warning by TSA not to make an easy mistake when packing their carry-on.
The security authority reminded DIY enthusiasts of a “seven-inch” rule that they must abide by.

While certain items are outright banned from cabin baggage, others can be packed in your carry-on as long as you comply with TSA restrictions.
Airport security has recently reminded flyers of the rules surrounding the transport of tools in your luggage.

TSA officers shared the warning in an official post on X, reminding “airport dads” of the restrictions in place.
Size restrictions
They outlined the maximum size of tools allowed in your carry-on baggage.
“Your tool might be handy, but if it’s over 7 inches, it’s too plane big to carry on,” the TSA wrote.
But don’t worry, you won’t have to leave your tool behind as the security officials explaine that is simply “better off in checked bags”.
And if you’re second guessing what tools you can and can’t bring on board, there’s an easy solution.
“Nobody likes a wrench in their plans,” the post continued.
“If you’re not sure if your tool measures up, text ‘TOOLS’ to 275-872 and AskTSA will set you straight.”
Other banned items
The TSA has also reminded passengers of the restrictions in place regarding liquids in your carry-on.
Similarly, there have also outlined guidelines relating to batteries on board.
And the item that airport baggage handlers warn flyers to “never pack”.
Plus, the restrictions surrounding a popular sweet treat you may want to take on board.
And wearing a common style of pants may also cause you delays during security checks.
TSA’s 3-1-1 rule
The Transportation Security Administration regulates the amount of liquids, aerosols, and gels that flyers can bring through airport security with the 3-1-1 liquids rule.
The 3-1-1 rule consists of the following:
Each container of liquid has to be 3.4 ounces or less.
All liquids have to fit in one clear, quart-sized, resealable bag.
Finally, passengers can only bring one bag of liquids each.
