In the North Carolina Lottery, Ricky Nunnery Jr. claims that his recent fortune was foretold to him in a dream[/caption]

In the North Carolina Lottery, Ricky Nunnery Jr. claims that his recent fortune was foretold to him in a dream.

Ricky, from Sanford, Lee County, became the first winner of a new lottery game in the state.

After having a dream that he would win big in the lottery the night before, he went to a local Wink Mart gas station to buy a ticket.

His $10 Triple Play ticket then turned into a staggering $1 million.

Ricky said: “I dreamed that I would hit big on the lottery.

“Something just told me to play today.

“I’m tickled to death with this.”

Ricky turned up to the state’s lottery headquarters that same day, last Friday, to claim his prize.

He decided to take his prize as a lump sum of $600,000, instead of an annuity of $50,000 over 20 years.

After the North Carolina state tax was applied to Ricky’s sum, he walked away with $430,503.

The  $1,000,000 Triple Play game only debuted in the state in June, with five top prizes of $1 million.

Four $1 million prizes are yet to be claimed.

If the money is not cashed in, the ticket holder will lose the money, and their chance at millionaire status.

The site reads: “The table above shows the major unclaimed Powerball prizes, and it has happened in the past that jackpots have not been paid out because the winners have not come forward in time.

“If a grand prize goes unclaimed, the money is returned to each participating state in line with how much they generated during that particular jackpot run.

“Unclaimed Powerball prizes in other categories are kept by the relevant lottery jurisdiction, and redistributed according to state rules.

“In many states, this money is used to support good causes.”

In the US, millions of dollars are lost every years because Americans do not come forward to claim their prizes.

The same is currently happening in Colorado, too, as chiefs search for a $50,000 ticket bought in February.

The ticket was purchased at a King Scoopers, and the player is strongly advised to come forward as soon as possible.
