COSTCO had customers up in arms over whether or not the company would be closing its gas pumps for good.
The company, which offers steep discounts on gas, had rumors swirling after a sign left on the door announcing a remodel with no return date.

A Staten Island Costco location recently put a sign on its door reading: “We apologize for the inconvenience but the Gas Station will be closed for renovations on July 21st, 2025 until further notice.
“Thank you for your patience and understanding.”
Many wondered when the pumps would be back, but reports now say the renovations will happen later on after all.
According to Staten Island Advance, an employee said that the remodel will now take place in September, giving customers a few more months to fill up their tank at cheaper prices.
The work should take two to three months, and will entail installing new gasoline supply lines and making a bigger canopy and fire suppression system, according to plans filed by the NYC Department of Buildings in June.
Multiple reviews on the location stated how it was the cheapest gas in Staten Island.
Costco gas has become a staple of the wholesale store alongside its famous cheap hot dogs and pizza.
As the company continues to expand, it’s starting new business ventures – including a new location that only offers gas without the warehouse.
In June, Costco announced it was opening its first stand-alone gas station in California.
The new station is set to open in 2026.
It will feature 40-bays, and will only be open to Costco card holders.
The company also just extended its hours for the gas pumps, with a new closing time of 10 p.m. across the U.S.
According to Business Insider, the company made about $30 billion on gas alone last year.
Costco has already seen the payoff of investing in its gas sector after opening new locations and expanding its hours.

In a June earnings call, CEO Ron Vachris claimed that the company had “two of our all-time highest gallon weeks” across the nation in April, Fox Business reported.
Despite the company being a consumer favorite, residents still have their worries.
In one town, a new Costco set to open next month has locals worried due to the excess traffic it may bring.
The store, set to open in Washington, had residents wondering how it would change traffic flow as the countdown to its opening begins.
“I think it’s good but it’s just going to bring a lot of traffic,” one local said to KEPR-TV.
“Well, I’m excited for the Costco here but I am nervous about the traffic here,” another claimed.
