THE Kansas City Chiefs have parted ways with a wide receiver on the eve of training camp.

Justyn Ross, 25, had been with the Kansas City Chiefs since 2022.

He was a freshman superstar in college for Clemson but went undrafted.

Ross caught just six passes in his NFL career for 53 yards.

All of those came in the 2023 season with his Chiefs career hampered by injury and suspension.

The wide receiver was forced to miss his entire rookie year in 2022 after having foot surgery.

He was also placed on the Commissioner’s Exempt List in October 2023 and later suspended for seven weeks.

That week, he was arrested on domestic battery and criminal property damage charges.

Ross pleaded not guilty and was released on $2,500 bond the next day.

The charges were reportedly dropped in November 2023 after Johnson County District Attorney’s office diverted the case.

Ross was waived by the Chiefs after training camp last summer but later signed to the practice squad.

This year he hasn’t even made it as far as camp before being cut.

Chiefs camp runs from July 22 to August 13.

The team begin their quest to reach a fourth straight Super Bowl against the Los Angeles Chargers in Brazil on September 5.

Ross had plenty of competition in the Chiefs wide receiver room.

Rashee Rice has emerged as Patrick Mahomes’ top target.

And he has the likes of Xavier Worthy and Hollywood Brown for company.

JuJu Smith-Schuster and Skyy Moore could also play roles in Kansas City this fall.

Worthy recently revealed in an interview with Kay Adams that the Chiefs will open up their offense this year.

He said, “Coach Reid told us during OTAs Phase 1, ‘When you come back, get your hamstrings ready.’

“So, we kind of knew that we were going to be going a little deep during practice.

“I feel like they started using me a lot underneath.

“And I can get started over the top because me and Pat are building that rapport together.

“We’re going to build it in training camp.

“We got it going at the end of the Super Bowl a little bit, so that was a great feeling to be able to connect deep towards the end of the year.”
