Ski masked gunfight leads to 1 arrest

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Nearly a month after a Sioux Falls shooting, a suspect is behind bars.

21-year-old Zachariah Ruffner faces six counts of Aggravated Assault.

He’s being held on a $100,000 cash bond.

This all happened just after Midnight on June 22nd, near 11th Street and First Avenue. It had been a warm summer day, so court documents say there were people walking around and sitting on the patio of a nearby business.

Between Midnight and 1 a.m., witnesses told police they saw one man in a ski mask standing on the sidewalk near 11th Street.

Several other men wearing ski masks were on the other end of the lot, about 50-feet away.
Court documents say there were several shots fired by at least two guns. One of the men in the group was hit in the groin area and had to go to the hospital.

Investigators used surveillance from the area to identify five of the people involved.

Court documents say the man on the sidewalk was 21-year-old Zachariah Ruffner.

He faces six counts of Aggravated Assault and made his first court appearance Thursday.
