THE Prince and Princess of Wales could be left frustrated by an “awkward” new rule their son George must follow now that he is 12.
The same rule applied to George’s father William when he turned 12 and makes life a bit tricky for the royals.

In a bid to safeguard the line of succession George and his father will now no longer be able to travel in the same plane together.
With William next in line to the throne and George second in line the rule aims to protect the heirs from any potential accidents.
It comes after George turned 12-years-old today and a new portrait of the prince was released by his parents.
The entire family are subject bizarre rules when they travel ranging from not drinking alcohol in case of poisoning to carrying a mourning outfit in case of a sudden death.
As second in line George is now expected to follow the new rule as his father did before him.
The bizarre rule was only waived for William on rare occasions when the late Queen Elizabeth II allowed him to travel with the rest of his family.
Speaking to the Daily Mail royal pilot Graham Laurie said: “Interestingly, we flew all four – the Prince, the Princess, Prince William and Prince Harry – up until Prince William was 12 years old.
“After that, he had to have a separate aircraft and we could only fly all four together when they were young with the written permission of Her Majesty.”
It is expected that William will ditch the royal tradition of flying George seperately from the rest of his family.
The rule could make long-haul flights for the Prince and Princess of Wales extremely difficult.
It is understood that qualified pilot William tends to fly his family around himself.
On several occasions, experts believe, the heir to the thrown has packed his family into a helicopter and whisked them away across the country.
The King is thought to strongly object to the practice, preferring that the royal tradition of separate travel is kept to.
Whether or not William will follow the tradition is yet to be seen, former BBC Royal Correspondent Jennie Bond told the Express: “This is going to be a bit of a conundrum for William and will make long-haul flights very tricky.”

It is not yet clear if the family will follow the rule[/caption]

“There will be a considerable amount of pressure on them to adhere to the rule, but I’m not convinced that he’ll stick to it rigidly.”
With George celebrating his 12th birthday today, July 22, the rule is expected to come into effect immediately but whether or not it will be followed is yet to be seen.
To mark the occasion a new portrait of the young prince was shared with the public alongside a behind the scenes video of William and Kate’s children laughing and playing together.
George, 12, Charlotte 10, and Louis 7, are seen all together in pictures and videos captured during a photo shoot for the young prince’s birthday.
The video, filmed by Kensington Palace’s in-house social media team, also captures the trio smiling as they stride along holding hands.
William and Kate’s eldest son looks the spitting image of his father in his new portrait.
It shows George outside leaning on a wooden gate near to the family’s country home at Anmer Hall in Norfolk.
The portrait was shared today with the message “Happy 12th Birthday to Prince George!”
The King and Queen reposted the photo on their social media page, wishing their grandson a happy birthday.
The one hobby Kate Middleton is ‘terrified’ Prince George will take up

The sport in question is one that Prince William has enjoyed for years… riding motorbikes.
Back in 2015, she admitted that William’s motorbike habit terrified her.
Kate confessed: “He’s still riding it. It always fills me with horror when he goes out on it. I’m terrified.
“Hopefully, I’m going to keep George off it.”
