MAURA Higgins has sensationally revealed she WILL be making a return to Love Island USA, just hours after it was announced the star had been ‘replaced’.
In a new teaser for the reality dating show, which airs on Peacock in the US and will be broadcast later in the year on ITVX in the UK, Maura spills the tea to fellow Love Island host Sophie Monk.
Sophie, 45, who fronts the Australian version of the show, looked stunning in a red dress as strutted her way in the iconic slow-mo speed.
Pretending to take a call from Maura, the two began catching up about what what was happening.
Sophie answered her cell, which of course had the Love Island theme as her ringtone, saying: “Maura Higgins, iconic bombshell and Love Island After Sun host, what’s going on?”
After asking Sophie what she was up to this summer, Maura explained that she couldn’t explain everything but had cryptically double-booked herself and was looking for help hosting the show.
Maura added: “Don’t get too comfy, I am coming back – it’s my sofa!” Pretending not to hear, Sophie whipped off her bathrobe to reveal a bodycon red dress.
She then whispered to the camera, “I’ve got this,” before introducing herself to the viewers.
Shared on the official Love Island Instagram page, the post was quickly inundated with messages of support from fans.
Sophie Monk also commented, writing to Maura: “we should both probably get an Oscar for this acting, thank you so much for letting me fill in till you’re back.”
Clearly good pals, the Love Island beauty replied: “I’m thinking the same. no THANKYOU!! you are smashing it & look fire.”
Maura began hosting the spinoff show last year when the USA version launched its fifth season.
It is understood that Maura has not been axed, and the shake-up is due to scheduling conflicts.
An insider teased: “She wasn’t able to commit to hosting Aftersun this season due to other work commitments, but she will be back on screen in some capacity later in the run.”
While it’s not confirmed, one fan theory is that she is believed to be filming the US version of The Traitors, following in the footsteps of fellow Love Island star Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu.
It is thought that she may return to host Aftersun for the second season of Love Island Games, which films later this year in Fiji.
The cast for the next series of The Traitors USA has yet to be officially confirmed.
Love Island USA is available live on Peacock every day at 9pm, except Wednesdays.
