MLB host Melanie Newman has seen almost everything in the ballpark during her career.
And the baseball broadcast is trying to teach American’s favorite pastime to a new audience.

Newman, 34, has worked for MLB Network, Apple TV and now the BBC.
She grew up around baseball in Atlanta, Georgia and always wanted to work in the game.
The host is one of few female play-by-play callers in the sport.
She has more than 30,000 followers on Instagram as her profile continues to grow.
“International superstar,” one fan said in a recent comment.
“I’m seriously amazed by you,” another posted.
Newman’s experiences at the ballpark have thrown up some crazy moments.
“Oh gosh – we’ve had a lot,” she told The Sun.
“We’ve had players who have had to wrangle wild animals that have made their way onto the field in the middle of the game.
“I’ve watched proposals, I’ve watched breakups.
“It is such a social platform because of the pace of the game and just the environment you’re in.
“But I think you’re just watching life continue to happen inside the ballpark.
“The little kids – whether they’re caught a foul ball or someone else catches it and gives it to them.
“Sometimes it’s so easy to make little kids happy and I have never seen bigger moments than when people stop to recognize the tiniest fans that we have at the game.”
One of Melanie’s jobs now is to educate British sports fans about the sport she loves.

Newman is part of BBC’s coverage of Major League Baseball in the United Kingdom.
She has traveled to London to cover the MLB’s regular-season games in the English capital.
“I’ve adored it,” she said of her UK experience.
“It is still a newer sport there and I would love to see it one day where it does get to those aggressive fan bases and they have these hard feelings and thoughts and opinions because of how invested they are in the game.
“But every interaction we’ve had with fans, it’s just so wonderful to bring it to them.
“Especially for the casual sports fans, baseball should be right up their alley.
“If you want to hang out, whether you’re in your seats or walking around the stands, you have a couple drinks you get some good food.
“It’s really your platform to do what you want with it.”
