Travelers can now check TSA wait times and airport parking lot spaces without even stepping foot in an airport

THE ever-busier pace of the world we live in has meant the way we travel has had to become more streamlined and efficient.

With that in mind, one American airport has pioneered new technology and revolutionised travel.

Charleston International Airport has created a new website to bless travelers with the beauty of convenience and ease.

New website

New features include the ability to check the availability of parking lots with a cost estimator and flight status.

Interactive terminal maps will also be offered on the website to help passengers find their gate, locate amenities such as food options and view store hours.

Public Affairs manager Caroline Connolly said: “This new website is more than a fresh coat of paint, it’s a commitment to a smarter, more responsive airport experience.

“Whether you’re flying for business or vacation, our goal is to ensure every journey through CHS starts with confidence and convenience.”

Airport officials say the redesigned IflyCHS.com is a step to meet the evolving needs of travelers, with enhanced navigation and tools.

They said: “[The tools are] aimed at saving time, reducing stress, and improving the overall experience.”

Benefits

The benefits of these innovations are aplenty.

The ability to check the TSA lines will be essential for passengers traveling during peak travel seasons.

It will allow passengers to adjust their schedules accordingly, and make the whole experience in the airport far more enjoyable (rather than stressful).

For frequent flyers and first-time visitors alike, finding parking at an airport can be extremely stressful; therefore, the new parking feature will remove one of the biggest pre-holiday anxieties.

At Charleston International, passengers can now check the availability of parking spaces at various parking lots, including the Hourly Parking Garage, the Daily Parking Garage, the Economy Lot, and the Overflow Lot.

As a result it will help people save time and also money, because the website will also hold detailed parking information.

This is useful because the pricing across the airport differs drastically, as the Hourly Parking Garage charges $3 per hour, while the Daily Parking Garage is priced at $2 per hour, with a maximum daily rate of $21.

Whereas the Economy Lot, a popular choice for travelers on extended trips, charges $5 per hour, with a daily maximum of $13.

Wider rebrand

This forms part of a wider rebrand for the international and domestic airport.

Charleston International Airport has been gradually changing its logos on signs to align with the launch of the website.

The new design is a sleeker and streamlined version of their old brand.

It plays on the three-letter locator identifier assigned by the Federal Aviation Administration.

Charleston International CEO Elliott Summey said: “We are one of the few airports with an identifier that closely resembles our name, so we wanted to lean into that.”

The aim of the innovative strategies is to improve the visitor experience and support Charleston as a premier destination for visitors.
