After his first season calling games, fellow ex-quarterback Esiason, 64, has given Brady some tips.
The Cincinnati Bengals hero spent years with ABC and CBS, working on 19 Super Bowls in a row in a broadcast record.
In an interview with Awful Announcing, Esiason offered Brady some advice ahead of the new season.
He said: “I think it’s just about being genuine. I sense a level of comfort with him and Kevin Burkhardt as the year went on.
“Tom has always been careful, never really controversial, especially when it came to football.
“He kind of followed the Bill Belichick way of talking about teams and things of that nature.
“And even meeting with Tom before games, he never really gave you much. He was always guarded.
“I think what you try to do is become as genuine as you can in the broadcast booth.”
Esiason admitted that critics on social media can make analysts more on the fence with their comments to avoid backlash.
But he went on to say about Brady: “Hopefully, in year two, he’ll feel more comfortable and more confident and understand exactly what the viewers are looking for.
“I would also say most analysts these days are very careful.
“They’re not nearly as critical as some have been in the past.”
Brady replaced Greg Olsen in the hotseat last year and he has opened up on his feelings towards him.
Speaking to “Bussin With The Boys,” Olsen said: “I have zero animosity toward Tom.
“I don’t sit there saying ‘I hope their broadcast stinks’ at all.”
