They included receiving injections in the back of his head.
Tamura killed four people and seriously injured an NFL employee during an attack in Manhattan last week.
One of the people murdered was an off-duty police officer.
Tamura then turned the gun on himself.
Police believe he was targeting the NFL offices inside 345 Park Avenue, New York City Major Eric Adams said.
It’s unclear whether the sport left him with chronic traumatic encephalopathy, which has been found in some pro players who died by suicide and can only be diagnosed after a person’s death.
On the back of one note, an eerie message was printed on the paper that read, “Plan, pause, reflect & flourish,” pictures obtained by ABC News showed.
Under that, Tamura wrote “CTE chronic traumatic encephalopathy” and “Study by brain please I’m sorry.”
According to the ESPN report, he began suffering headaches while playing high school football.
They continued into adulthood and he used pain killers to cope with the struggle.
A source told ESPN, “As it got worse and worse it was like, ‘OK I have to get doctors’ help now.’”
According to the source, Tamura was previously treated for depression.
Tamura was working as a security guard in the surveillance department for the Horseshoe hotel and casino when he died.
First responders put him in two mental health crisis holds, once in 2022 and again in 2024, law enforcement sources told the outlet.
Normally, this involves someone being brought to a mental health facility or hospital where medical professionals provide care until the person is no longer considered a danger to themselves or others.
