Walmart bosses ban ‘infuriating’ habit employees do while on the floor – but workers are pushing back

WALMART bosses are sounding the alarm over a new policy that has some employees’ ears ringing.

But for some Walmart customers, it’s good news to hear.

America’s biggest retailer appears to be cracking down on an employee habit that some customers called “inconsiderate” and “rude.”

Walmart is banning the use of headphones on the sales floor for employees.

“Everyone, no earbuds period. Stop wearing them,” read a white board message in an employee breakroom, according to a photo posted on Reddit.

“Store leads will periodically come back here to check if anyone has them,” the message continued.

The message also noted that employees making a first offense will be talked to. Those caught a second time would be “coached.”

And the message also jokingly read, “If you have them a third time, you will be taken out back and executed. (Bullet between the eyes. Old yeller style.)”

But the ban hasn’t been well received among employees.

“I’m a cart pusher and my coach is hounding me every 20 minutes to make sure I’m not wearing them,” one Reddit user posted.

‘CAN’T WAIT’

“I can’t wait till it’s cold so I can just wear them under a ski mask,” the poster added.

Another posted: “I’ve had one in every shift for about 8 years now and nothing bad has happened because of them.”

A third wrote, “I can hear the customer service phone ring across the entire store.”

“I can hear most people trying to get my attention.”

“And quit worrying if it’s something inappropriate. It’s not playing on the PA or in your ear is it?” the poster continued.

However, some have cited safety concerns and other issues over the use of headphones on the job.

“Missed pages, one employee was hit with an incoming pallet,” one Reddit user replied. “Health and safety reasons, NO EAR BUDs? I don’t understand why it’s so hard?”

SHOPPERS CHIME IN

Plus, many shoppers say they’re happy with the policy.

“Not only is it truly a safety concern (just imagine someone trying to warn about some danger), but it is quite rude toward other people,” one person posted on another Reddit thread.

“Oh. No. Company policy is being followed. Whatever shall you do now?” another joked.

Another chimed in: “Hmm, I can’t think of a single entry level job I’ve had where I WAS allowed headphones while working.
