Aaron Rodgers makes surprise retirement declaration with Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback ‘not wanting attention’

AARON Rodgers has made a surprise declaration about what he plans to do after his NFL retirement.

The Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback, 41, revealed his plans to retire after the 2025 season on Tuesday.

Rodgers appeared on The Pat McAfee Show and shared his intentions for the upcoming campaign to be his last in the NFL.

The four-time NFL MVP signed a one-year deal with the Steelers earlier this month and will be entering his 21st season in the league.

However, Rodgers also said that he doesn’t like being a celebrity and will be away from the spotlight when he’s done playing.

“I don’t want the attention – I know that’s a narrative out there,” Rodgers said.

“When this is all done, it’s Keyser Soze. You won’t see me.

“I won’t be in the public. I don’t want to live a public life.

“That’s why it’s so strange, what’s going on right now in my private life, because I don’t want to live a life in the public eye.

“… When this is done, I’m done. You won’t see me, and I’m looking forward to that.”

Rodgers’ statement is an interesting one, as he appears on The Pat McAfee Show every Tuesday during the NFL season and here and there during the summer.

He almost ran for Vice President and he even considered to be the host of Jeopardy! in the past.

And Rodgers has frequently appeared at sporting events throughout his NFL career, including the Kentucky Derby.

But Rodgers has been private about his dating life and hasn’t revealed the full name of his mystery wife.

He told the media he got married earlier this month.

Rodgers’ comments appear to rule out working in the television business or being part of an endorsement campaign.

Those two opportunities are among the top jobs for retired NFL players.

Nonetheless, Rodgers has another year of being in the public eye as he’ll don the black and gold for Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin.

“I’ve played 20 frickin’ years, you know? It’s been a long run and I’ve enjoyed it,” Rodgers said.

“What better place to finish it than in one of the cornerstone franchises of the NFL with Mike Tomlin and a great group of leadership and great guys.”
