Aaron Rodgers slammed for ‘douche move’ over final season announcement weeks after Pittsburgh Steelers decision

AARON Rodgers has been called out for revealing that he’ll be playing his final season in 2025.

The Pittsburgh Steelers star quarterback’s final season comments came weeks after signing a one-year, $13.6 million deal with the team.

Rodgers announced on The Pat McAfee Show last week that he plans on retiring following the 2025 campaign.

And it’s safe to say that the decision didn’t sit well with Boston sports radio.

WEEI’s Courtney Cox went on a rant over the 41-year-old Rodgers’ retirement announcement on the Greg Hill Show.

“Give me a break with the ‘I just wanted to do this for fun for my final [season] – it’s been 20 years, haha, chuckle, chuckle,” Cox said last Wednesday.

“No, you did it so that you could tell everybody you’re retiring and have a farewell tour.

“That’s why you did it.

“You’re an egomaniac, a narcissist.

Cox’s co-host Greg Hill echoed her take, saying Rodgers’ decision to announced walking away from football “a douche move.”

“Training camp hasn’t even started, and you need to declare that this is, this is the last (year),” Hill added.

“If you want to ask me about it when I come to your city, feel free to ask me about it.

“Feel free to bother all the other guys also all season long when you ask them about my last season.”

Cox did call herself a hypocrite because she would’ve praised Tom Brady or any other legendary athlete for making the same decision that Rodgers made.

“The fact that it’s Aaron Rodgers, that’s why I hate it,” she said.

Executive producer Chris Curtis also labeled Rodgers as “loathsome” and criticized the Steelers for riding and dying with Rodgers.

“It’s beneath the Steelers to bring this guy in. It’s pathetic. I hate that (head coach Mike Tomlin) is on board with it,” Curtis added.

“He’s not good anymore.”

Cox and her colleagues aren’t the first to blast the polarizing Rodgers, and won’t be the last.

Rodgers regularly appears on The Pat McAfee Show during the NFL season and occasionally during the offseason, and often shares bold opinions, whether it’s about the game of football or politics.

He will be rocking the black and gold after spending the past two seasons with the New York Jets.
