Adults are ‘running’ to McDonald’s for ‘Lil’ Happy Meal toys – and fans praise it’s ‘pure nostalgia’

SOME McDonald’s customers are rushing to get a Happy Meal this month for a brand new toy lineup.

Many adults are saying they’re even reaching for the famous fast food selection while supplies last.

The Lil’ McDonald’s collection arrives on July 1[/caption]

McDonald’s rotates its toy offerings with a Happy Meal consistently, and this summer, there’s the Lil’ McDonald’s Happy Meal.

As of today, July 1, customers can get one of 21 toys inspired by McDonald’s itself.

The miniature designs include trays with assorted food, the drive-thru window, a delivery truck, the PlayPlace, a grill, a fryer, a register, a phone, a toy display, and more.

Anna Engel, director of marketing, brand, content & culture at McDonald’s USA, emphasized that the Lil’ McDonald’s lineup was created to bring about imagination for kids and nostalgia for adults.

“A McDonald’s Happy Meal has always been more than just a meal — it’s a joyful tradition that creates lasting memories for both kids and adults alike,” Engel said in a news release.

“As a parent, there’s something magical about watching your child’s imagination come to life with these tiny toys.”

“That’s what makes Lil’ McDonald’s so special. It brings back my own childhood memories of playing McDonald’s and now I get to create new ones with my kids,” she added.

HIGH PRAISE

Several adults have already issued excitement over the newly released toy lineup online.

Food influencer Snackolator noted in a post on Facebook that they would be “running” to get their hands on the toys.

“Boo bucket is the cutest! I like them but I’ll just get a few,” a longtime McDonald’s fan commented.


“Not me buying kids meals just to have the toys and make my own mini McDonald’s,” another wrote.

A third called the toys “pure nostalgia.”

Whether adults or kids, Americans that are interested in getting the Lil’ McDonalds toys must act fast.

They’ll only be around until August 11 before being switched out for something else.

  • Junior Bacon Cheeseburger or Crispy Chicken Sandwich
  • Four-piece chicken nuggets
  • Junior fries
  • Small soft drink

Burger King’s $5 Your Way Meal:

  • Whopper Junior, Chicken Junior, or Bacon Cheeseburger
  • Fries
  • Four-piece chicken nuggets
  • Soft drink

DONUT DENIED

Diners also only have hours left to get a beloved sweet treat at McDonald’s before it’s gone for good.

The fast food giant’s partnership with Krispy Kreme ends on July 2 after a brief pause in May.

For three years, the two companies collaborated to sell donuts at around 2,400 locations nationwide.

Alyssa Buetikofer, chief marketing and customer experience officer at McDonald’s USA, noted that the while partnership was profitable for the company, it did not reap the same benefits for Krispy Kreme.

“While the partnership met our expectations for McDonald’s and Owner/Operators, this needed to be a profitable business model for Krispy Kreme as well,” Buetikofer said in a statement.

Krispy Kreme CEO Josh Charlesworth also noted that it would “reassess” its relationship with McDonald’s moving forward.

“I remain confident in the long-term national opportunity, but we need to work together with them to identify levers to improve sales,” Charlesworth noted.

McDonald’s also introduced a brand-new McFlurry flavor last month that some customers are calling “one of the best.”

A diner was also left “repulsed” recently at a surprise found in their McNuggets meal.
