AGT fans livid over Mel B’s ‘wasted’ Golden Buzzer pick to ‘mediocre’ performance amid star’s ‘uncertain’ fate on show

AMERICA’S Got Talent judge Mel B angered fans after she gave away her Golden Buzzer to an “unworthy” act early on in the night.

The Spice Girls star had control of which act automatically advanced to the finale during Tuesday’s live show.

Fans lashed out at the singer on social media for giving out her Golden Buzz so early in the episode[/caption]

After Sofia Vergara, 53, took command of the buzzer last week, the fate of one lucky contestant was in Mel B‘s hands during part two of the quarterfinals.

With 11 acts scheduled to hit the stage, viewers were shocked when Mel B, 50, made her Golden Buzzer selection after only the second performance of the evening.

The singer revealed she was blown away by rapper Mama Duke, who performed another original song, Feels So Good to Be You.

All four judges, including Howie Mandel, 69, and Simon Cowell, 65, voted for the young star to go through to the next round of the competition, praising her confidence on stage.

The judges again applauded Mama Duke during her second time on stage, and Mel B couldn’t help but secure her a spot in the finale.

FANS’ OUTRAGE

However, fans thought the move might’ve been a bit premature, especially after seeing all the impressive acts that followed.

“I like Mama Duke but that act was not golden buzzer worthy. Leave it to Mel B to waste her buzzer on a singing act,” one viewer wrote on X.

“Can we please to god have Mel B not judge AGT next season she is honestly bad as a judge,” another complained.

Why did Mel B give the golden buzzer to that performance? It wasn’t anything to write home about. Missy Elliot better watch out? Lmao. Yeah. Ok! #agt,” said a third.

#AGT That was totally not buzzer worthy, c’mon man. I knew Mel B was gonna blow that thing quick,” a fourth remarked, while others complained that the act was “mediocre.”

Despite handing out her Golden Buzzer early, Mel B told numerous acts after that they were deserving of the honor, including high-stakes roller skating stunt artists, Duo Stardust, whom she declared “the best of the night.”

Mel B might want to be careful, as she and Sofia have the biggest targets on their backs regarding who returns next season.

Earlier this week, The U.S. Sun revealed the ladies’ fate on the show is “uncertain” as Simon has the “most say” in who stays on the judging panel.

A source revealed that NBC will likely make the decision of who stays and who goes after Season 20 wraps, but Simon and Howie have the most stability.

America’s Got Talent judges

THOUSANDS of hopefuls have graced the America’s Got Talent stage to showcase their abilities.

Here is some more information about the A-list judges for season 20:

Simon Cowell – On October 22, 2015, it was revealed Simon was replacing Howard Stern on the AGT judges panel. He became a judge during the program’s 11th season and has since remained a series regular.

Mel B – In March 2013, Mel B was announced as Sharon Osbourne’s replacement on AGT. She remained on the show for five seasons before leaving in 2018. She made her grand return this year for season 20.

Sofia Vergara – On February 27, 2020, NBC revealed Sofia was replacing Gabrielle Union for AGT season 15.

Howie Mandel – Out of all the panelists, Howie Mandel is the longest-tenured judge on America’s Got Talent. Howie joined the hit reality series during the show’s 5th season, replacing David Hasselhoff.

The insider also said they doubt that the judges will remain the same going forward, although it ultimately depends on what Simon wants.

Mel B first joined the AGT family during Season 8 in 2013.

She was a part of the panel for every season until 2018, when actress Gabrielle Union, 52, replaced her.

The TV personality later confessed that she was “fired” but made her way back to the show this season.

Howie is the longest-serving cast member to join the show, having signed on in 2010.
