All travelers could completely bypass TSA at the airport as plan’s for new rule revealed

AIR travelers could soon skip lines inside airports altogether.

Instead of waiting at crowded checkpoints, passengers may clear TSA screening before they even arrive at the terminal.

The trial plan is being drawn up for Boston Logan International Airport.

The Massachusetts Port Authority, known as Massport, says it is preparing to launch the system next summer.

Officials revealed the program will run as a pilot between June and August of 2026.

It would be available at one of Logan’s five Logan Express bus locations.

The site chosen is in Framingham, west of Boston.

The idea would let passengers pass through TSA checks and hand over their bags at the bus station.

Travelers would need to book a reservation online for a specific bus trip.

Only those buses would be directly linked to TSA-approved screenings.

Massport says the buses would meet security protocols and head straight to Logan’s secure gate areas.

That means passengers who use the service would step off the bus already cleared for boarding.

Some travelers are already sold on the idea.

“I would do that and never have to deal with what you have to deal with here now,” passenger Eddie Daniles, who was flying out of Boston, told NBC local affiliate WBTS-CD.

“If you could do all that before getting to the airport, it would be amazing,” he added.

Others said it could change how they get to the airport.

Cedrick Dorsey, a frequent Logan flier, said it would make him switch from ride-hailing apps.

“I would. I would do that. I honestly Ubered here today,” he said.

“Definitely, I would take public transportation in that case,” he added.

The TSA would still conduct the screenings even if they happen off-site.

The federal agency must also approve the final details before it moved forward.

“TSA and Massport are looking to partner in enhancing the customer experience and reducing congestion at Boston Logan,” TSA spokesperson Dan Velez said.

He added that “active discussions are still taking place between TSA and other stakeholders.”

The initiative, he stressed, “is still in development and not yet finalized.”

Massport admitted the proposal needs adjustments before it can be tested.

Talks are already underway with Framingham planning officials.

The plan includes a temporary structure on the Logan Express site to house TSA staff and equipment.
