Nick Underhill reported that the Saints had released special teamer J.T. Gray, and Kamara was not pleased.

The running back posted just three letters, “wtf”.

The 29-year-old’s final year of the contract was worth $2.6 million, but wasn’t extended.

Having gone undrafted in 2018, Gray was picked up by the Saints and played seven seasons in Louisiana.

Featuring as both a special teams player and a safety, he made 103 tackles in 98 games.

Gray was even a first-team All Pro player in 2021.

However, Saints head coach Kellen Moore said the decision was one of the hardest things so far this year.

He noted that the call came down to roster flexibility and management.

Moore is in his first year as head coach, having won the Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles last season as an offensive coordinator.

He joins longtime GM Mickey Loomis in what looks like a rebuilding year in New Orleans.

Their only Lombardi Trophy came in 2009.

Kamara is heading into his eighth season in the NFL.

He was selected in the third round by the Saints in 2017 and went on to win the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award.

He was selected in the Pro Bowl in each of his first five years, but hasn’t appeared in the All-Star Game since.
