Amazon to cut 15-year Prime benefit from October 1

AMAZON chiefs are set to cut a Prime membership perk that has existed for more than 15 years.

The benefit will be phased out on October 1.

And, the e-commerce company appears to be following in the footsteps of giants such as Costco and Netflix when it comes to sharing perks of membership.

Execs have been looking for ways to ensure non-members don’t enjoy the same advantages of subscribers.

Amazon bosses are getting rid of the Prime Invitee program, as reported by Fox Business.

This allowed members to share delivery benefits with people that have not bought a Prime subscription.

Amazon Prime members will be told about the policy change by September 5.

Non-subscribers will be forced to sign up for a Prime membership once the change comes into force.

In the US, an Amazon Prime membership costs $14.99 a month.

Alternatively, shoppers can fork out $139 for a yearly subscription.
